More Flower Pictures from Yokohama Seems Like a Good Idea...

We're expecting snow tonight, tomorrow and the next day, so maybe some pictures of flowers will help...  Here are more pictures from the park in front of Yokohama harbor.  The first five were taken from my hotel room.

Part of the Flower Competition Shown Last Week.

Green Space.

Formal Garden.

Gazebo and "Rest House."
Guardian of  Water Viewed from my Hotel Room.
The Guardian of Water statue was presented to the people of Yokohama, Japan, by the people of San Diego, California.

Guardian of Water, Closer Up.

Descriptive Plaque for Guardian of Water Fountain.
There were many interesting geometries to see.  I didn't take a close-up of the description of the head statue, but "his" right eye is the word Zan.  "His" left eye says Giri.  "His" mouth is the word Yokohama.  All in "English" characters, not Japanese.

Head Statue.

Walkway with Square Pergola.
Interesting set of arches.  Note that in the second view, there is a "follow-on" set of arches set apart from the first set.
Walkway with Round Pergola.

Stone Bench.
Arched Trellis.

Espaliered Trees.
Even the placements of the benches along the esplanade is geometrical.

Benches Along the Esplanade.
The flower beds around the Guardian of Water are also quite geometrical.

The rest of the pictures are various flower beds for which I have no descriptions.

And, finally, a more structured Japanese garden plot.

Is this a flower competition?

All of the following pictures were taken on the esplanade in Yokohama harbor.  As you can see the plots all have descriptive titles, plus perhaps information on the person or firm that created each plot.  In addition, there was a tent set up selling plants, which I did not photograph.  There really isn't anything to say, so I will only provide the captions.

Plot 21.  The Beach.
Plot 22.  Crimson:  Harmony of Japanese and European Styles.
The label for Plot 22 implies that the overall theme was supposed to be European gardens, although I found no other support for this theory.
