Weather in Ft. Lauderdale was warm and sunny!

Also hot and humid.  Don’t hate me, but I am one of the seriously lucky few whose hair looks great when it is humid.  So my hair loved the respite from the dry air in Colorado as much as did the rest of me.  But while I was there, a friend texted to say that 2 feet of snow had probably fallen at my house!

What with thunderstorm delays in Ft. Lauderdale – and other complications, but that’s another story – I arrived in Denver an hour or so later than scheduled.  Roads in Denver were clear and dry with no evidence of snow.  Roads in Golden (about half way home and an emergency bed if needed) were also clear and dry with no evidence of snow.  By that time, I had also gotten a second wind, so I decided to continue all the way home instead of stopping.

Roads continued to be clear and dry all the way home, but as I climbed in elevation there started to be some evidence of snow – at first, mostly plow leavings by the side of the road, but eventually, the hillsides were completely covered with snow.  Luckily, I have a great plow guy.  My driveway was also clear and dry, but…

And Garden Clean-up Isn’t Happening Soon, Either!

But the Snow Was Already Melting as You Can See from the Wet Spots in the Drive.
The first morning home, the snow was up over the bench.  But with several days of warm sunny weather, we were starting to see bare spots in the yard.  Then this!

Snow.  Again.
That didn’t last as we had about a week of warm weather.  Not too sunny, so things didn’t melt as quickly as one might like.  But the weather forecast yesterday was for temperatures to remain above freezing both night and day for the next 10 days!  The sounds of snow melt running down the rain spouts was very encouraging as I went to sleep last night.  Yay!

Except that I woke to this:

Yikes!
Nothing seems to be falling as I write this mid-morning.  But the sky is totally overcast and they are calling for 5 to 8 inches of snow today, with another accumulation of less than an inch tomorrow.  I wonder what the weather is like in New Zealand?!?

Do you still have snow? And other questions…

All the snow that seems to have fallen this winter have caused some of my correspondents to be sick of winter and dying for spring to arrive.  I was asked if there was still snow near me.  Our spring seems to be coming in one week spurts, separated by more snowfall.  The only snow still on the ground near me is where the plows have piled it up.  It is also on the south side of my driveway where the evergreens further to the south shade the ground.

I was also asked to show the views from the end of my driveway to the right and to the left.

Note that their snow is also to the north of the large evergreens on their land.

Looking Back at the House from the Mailbox
This picture shows the snow, the trees, and the shade patterns better.  It is almost time to start thinking about spring clean-up.  With most of the snow gone, you can see some of the “landscaping” features…

The Weather Vane
It looks like a windmill, but is not connected to anything either to generate electricity or pump water.  But it does need to be painted if I am going to keep it.  Color suggestions?

Birdhouse and Stump
I don’t know if anyone has ever lived in this house, but it looks pretty there and will probably survive the spring clean-up.

And now that we are drooling to get on with the spring clean-up, the weather report for the coming week is calling for 3 to 5 inches of snow on Wednesday, 5 to 8 inches of snow on Thursday, and about an inch on Friday.  I think I’ll go to Florida instead!
